PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy policy

This page explains how Architecture Walks (“this site”) handles visitor information.

Personal information

This site provides no fields at all for entering personally identifying information such as your name, email address, telephone number or postal address. There is no account registration or sign-in.

Use of Google Maps

The map uses the Google Maps JavaScript API provided by Google LLC. When the map is displayed, your browser connects directly to Google's servers, sending information such as your IP address, browser type and map interactions. Google may also set cookies.

That information is handled under Google's own policies. See the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) for details.

If you would rather not load the map, the building list and the individual building pages work without it.

Analytics

This site does not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool. It carries no advertising and does not use data for advertising purposes.

If that ever changes, this page will be updated beforehand.

Information stored in your browser

This site itself stores nothing in cookies or localStorage, including your filter settings. Filters return to their initial state when you leave the page.

Cookies set by Google Maps, described above, may also be stored.

Server logs

This site runs on Google Cloud, and access logs are recorded automatically on the server to monitor operation and respond to abuse. Logs include IP addresses, timestamps, pages viewed and browser type.

They are consulted only for statistics and troubleshooting, never to identify individuals.

Messages you send

Messages sent via CONTACT are delivered to a chat tool (Slack) used by the maintainer.

The form has no field for contact details, so individual replies are not possible. Messages are used only to improve this site.

Please do not include personal information or anything you would not want others to see. To prevent repeated submissions, IP addresses are compared in memory for a few minutes, but are not stored.

Links to external sites

This site links to external sites including official building websites, Wikipedia and Google Maps. Please refer to each site's own privacy policy for how they handle your information.

Photographs

Photographs are taken from Wikimedia Commons and served from this site's own storage (Google Cloud Storage). Because they are not hot-linked, displaying them does not cause your browser to connect to Wikimedia or any other third party.

The photographer and licence for each image are shown on the corresponding building page.

Changes to this policy

Any changes will be published on this page.
